Start customizing your free mobile website

If you already signed up for a free mobile website, the next step is to start customizing it (add your logo, change the colors, add new pages, video, images, etc.). Here are some helpful tips on getting started.

add your logo

1) Add your logo

This is very simple to do. After you log into CambioExpress, click on the "Settings" tab at the top and you'll see where you can upload your logo. You'll notice that there are two logos - one under "Site Settings" and the other under "Mobile Settings". If you have a free mobile website, you'll just need to replace the one under "Mobile Settings" (the other one would appear on your full/standard website if you had a Basic or Premium website).

2) Customize the colors

Now that you've got your logo in place, you'll more than likely need to updated the colors to better match your brand. This can be done by clicking on the "Manage Site" tab at the top, then click on "Templates". Over on the right you'll see a place to manage the "Colors", so click on that and start customizing! Adjust as you need to and you'll see how it will look with a preview on the left. Once you're done, just click "Apply Changes" and you're website template will be updated.

3) Advanced options

For those of you wanting to customize the site even more (as we've done with the CambioLabs mobile website), you can have your design team click on the "Custom" link under "Manage Site" and add items to the header, footer, and really get fancy with the CSS. If you don't have a designer, we can certainly help with that so just contact us about pricing.

Why your website needs to look professional

CambioLabs designs professional websites

For most of your potential customers, your website is the first point of contact they will have with your business. Your website is your store front. This is your opportunity to make a good first impression.

What message are you sending during the first few seconds when the visitor decides whether to stay on your site or not? A good website inspires confidence and trust.

A professional website matches and strengthens your brand and matches your core business message. A professional website is well-planned and thought out... the colors are coordinated, it is inviting, loads fast, and is easy to navigate.

A professional website sends a message that you care about the customer and know your business. If you have not paid attention to the details and your site looks amateurish, you will most likely lose the visitor. We all gravitate to sites that can convince us in few seconds that they can provide us what we need and that we can trust the site.

We specialize in making our client's websites look like the professional companies that they are.

3 Good reasons to have a mobile website

There are quite a few good reasons why you should have am mobile website, but we'll just highlight three for this post.

1. Mobile traffic will surpass desktop before 2015

With more than 10 billion mobile devices floating around, chances are very strong that your customers (and potential customers) will visit your website on their smartphone. Mobile web browsing is exploding so quickly that at its current growth mobile web browsing will surpass desktop browsing before 2015.

2. Strengthen your brand

Humans are very visual. When we first meet someone, we make very quick assumptions based on how the person looks (how they dress, their hair, mannerisms, voice, etc.). This is no different for when a customer is looking to buy from a store they aren't familiar with. It only takes a few seconds for customers to make a judgement call on whether or not they will trust your brand. Give those potential customers a reason to trust you. Let them see instantly that you're on the edge of technology with your mobile site.

3. Provide better experience for visitors

Ever been to a website that isn't optimized for the mobile device you're on? It gets frustrating trying to navigate around... pinching, zooming, tapping the wrong links, etc. With a mobile site, your website visitors can easily navigate around your website to find the information they need. Don't get in the way of letting potential customers find your service or product.

What is a mobile website?

Although mobile websites have been around for a little while now, they are still new enough to merit some explanation. To put it simply, mobile websites are special versions of it's "standard" website that is viewed when you go to a website on your mobile device.

For example, if you visit target.com on your computer, then visit target.com on your smartphone, you'll notice that their mobile website has been designed for the smaller screen. And if you look at the URL, you'll notice that they are different. You can't just shrink everything down to fit on the smaller screen size... it needs to be reformatted in a way that is built for the smaller screen.

When you're using your smartphone to surf the web, it gets very frustrating to view a page with a lot of content if it hasn't been optimized for the mobile world. You will inevitably have to double-tap to zoom and scroll over, etc. In contrast, if the website has been built for the smaller screen, it can be a great experience. Another example would be to visit your news websites (i.e. cnn.com). And again, you'll notice that when you go to cnn.com on your smartphone, it will detect that you're on a smartphone and redirect you to m.cnn.com. Want to learn more about how you can have your standard site detect smartphones and redirect to a mobile version? Contact us here.

The mobile wave is well on its way, regardless if your website is ready for it or not. We want everyone to have a mobile version of their website, so we're giving them away for free! And you can create your free mobile website in less than 60 seconds. Just click here and sign up.
